Watch: Frankie Rose - "Know Me"

[Directed by Ricardo Rivera]

Listen: David Byrne + St. Vincent - "Weekend In The Dust"

"On “Weekend in the Dust”, I came up with some brass riffs and swells that sounded pretty funky to me. I then sent those to Annie and she wrote a cool vocal melody over it (later she wrote words too). We both arranged her vocal and other elements of the track a bit further—still working with horn samples temporarily. Finally, we passed this one to baritone sax monster Lenny Pickett, ex Tower Of Power and current Borneo Horns and SNL bandleader, for arranging. I'd previously worked with Lenny on a Talking Heads track (“Blind”) so I know he is really good at convoluted and funky—and that describes this track pretty well. We recorded the whole band playing it in the studio in Hoboken, which I arrived at one morning in March via bicycle and ferry. Nice!" - David Byrne

The newest track from the anticipated collaboration between David Byrne and St. Vincent has been released. Annie Clark's infectious vocals are placed over a "pretty funky" baseline, as David Byrne put it. This is as good as it gets, being everything we could've possible imagined when first introduced to the idea of this duo. The song comes as an immediate download upon the preorder of Love This Giant, which is out September 11th. You can preorder the album and listen to both this track and the previously released "Who" via their website.

The Love This Giant tracklist:

1. "Who"
2. "Weekend in the Dust"
3. "Dinner For Two"
4. "Ice Age"
5. "I Am An Ape"
6. "The Forest Awakes"
7. "I Should Watch TV"
8. "Lazarus"
9. "Optimist"
10. "Lightning"
11. "The One Who Broke Your Heart" (ft. The Dap-Kings and Antibalas)
12. "Outside of Space & Time"

Listen: Bloc Party - "Day Four"

The newest single from Bloc Party's Four has just hit the web. "Day Four" is the second track to surface from the new album, clocking in at just over four minutes. For better or worse, similarities between this cut and Silent Alarm's standout track "Modern Love" can be heard. Four is out August 20th. Listen to the single below.

Watch: Title Fight - "Head In The Ceiling Fan"

Hardcore act Title Fight have released a video for the track "Head In The Ceiling Fan", the most recent single from upcoming LP Floral Green. Those familiar with the band's earlier work are in for quite a surprise, as this track definitely gives off a shoe gaze type of feel. Accompanied by a set of nostalgically filmed pieces, the video above compliments the piece in every way. Floral Green is set for a September 18th release. You can download "Head In The Ceiling Fan" below.

Listen: Whale Fire - "Wild-Eyed Mistake"

I recently stumbled upon Whale Fire's newest single, released late last month. This promising four-piece group blend infectious indie-pop, reverb-drenched instrumentation with oddly contrasting vocals not commonly placed over tracks such as these. With only a previous EP release under their belt, this quartet is worth keeping an eye on. Listen to/download the single below.

Stream: Dark Time Sunshine - ANX (Full Album)

Rapper-producer duo Dark Time Sunshine have made the wait for ANX's July 24th release much more bearable. Completely bearable in fact, as they are streaming their newest LP days before the scheduled date. The follow-up to 2010's excellent Vessel is loaded with excellency. The beats, as we have come to expect from producer Zavala, are phenomenal. Onry Ozzbourn and his guest features (from the likes of Aesop Rock to Busdriver) can only do them justice. Listen to the album in its entirety below:

Listen: How To Dress Well - "Cold Nites"

How To Dress Well has released a new single from the upcoming album Total Loss. The cut in question features Tom Krell's soaring falsettos over a menacing piano, almost in vein of The Weeknd. Total Loss will be his sophomore follow up to 2010's Love Remains and is out September 18th. Listen to "Cold Nites" below:

Listen: Dark Time Sunshine - "Take My Hand" Ft. Swamburger/Aesop Rock

Another track has surfaced from Dark Time Sunshine's upcoming ANX release in "Take My Hand". Frontman Onry Ozzborn is backed by Aesop Rock and Swamburger (Solillaquists), showing us how strong the chemistry is between the three gifted lyricists. Perhaps this is due to the combination of each rapper's own unique delivery, as each flow unparalleled. Credit must be given to Zavela as well, the drum-driven beat hits home in every way. Simply put, this track is straight fire. ANX is out July 24th.

Listen: The xx - "Angels"

Indie stars The xx have released the opening track from their upcoming album Coexist. Seems as though The XX are keeping it simple, preferring to stick with their proven formula. Their debut was heralded for its slow, brooding riffs, and it appears as though Coexist will encompass both these aspects. Coexist is out is out September 11th (September 10th internationally) via Young Turks.

Listen: Passion Pit - "Constant Conversations"

Passion Pit's recent release of new singles "I'll Be Alright" and "Take a Walk" have done nothing but fuel the anticipation towards their second full-length LP in Gossamer. Unfortunately, the wait will last until the scheduled release date of July 24th. Thankfully, another track from the upcoming release has surfaced in "Constant Conversations". This soulful, almost R&B cut will do for now. Be sure to check out Gossamer upon its release. Listen to the newest track below:

Watch: Chromatics - "Eclipse" (Tour Documentary)

The clips used in the following tour montage are peculiarly strung together to say the least, yet director Alberto Rossini does so in a way that is appealing, albeit a little off-kilter. The film was released in anticipation of Chromatic's two week U.S. tour, which starts today. You can check the dates here.
