More good mixtape hip-hop, this time from Stones Throw-signed MC/producer Jonwayne. The Marion Morrison Mixtape is the third installment in the Cassette series that, to this point, has only been released via cassette tape (obviously). They decided to make this one free for download. The tape features prominent features from Captain Murphy, Oliver The 2nd, Zeroh, and Jeremiah Jae (hot off his own mixtape release/signing). Stream The Marion Morrison Mixtape and download it here. Jeremiah Jae, the Chicago rapper with an affinity for spitting over left-field beats, has just signed a deal with Warp. In accordance, Jae has dropped a quick 25-minute mixtape entitled Bad Jokes to mark the occasion. Flying Lotus has his hands in the production, among others, so you know this is a noteworthy release. As part of The Smokers Club's Oil:710 mixtape, rap-prodigy Joey Bada$$ has put out a track entitled "Norwegian Breakfast". The Brooklyn native drops some of his most introspective rhymes to date, lacing his ever-improving 90's flow with a smooth beat from Bagir. The Joey Bada$$-fronted Progressive Era (or Pro Era) are the latest up-and-comers to release a joint mixtape, with the appropriately titled PEEP The aPROcalypse being put out today. If the closing track posse cut (Suspect) from Bada$$' acclaimed 1999 tape is any indication, the release will be promising, with fellow members showcasing their talents to be potentially on par with that of Bada$$'. Download the tape here, which will undoubtedly be crammed with 90's throwback, boom-bap jams.
