Listen: James Blake - "Retrograde"

"Retrograde" is noticeably less minimal than that of the material on his self titled, but James Blake is no stranger to switching up his style. Rooted in the early dubstep scene, the English producer has come a long way since his first singles. This particular cut remains predominately piano-led, that is until the beat drops. A controlled chaos is thrown directly at listeners: sirens blaring, Blake belting "we're alone now"; this is as confident and unrestraint his vocals have been in recent memory. This is the single that he needed after being gone for nearly a year, to have fans saying: "Finally, a James Blake track." It's that good. "Retrograde" is the first single off his upcoming Overgrown LP out April 8th.
