Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) - On Time Spent Waiting

While I had previously given this EP a few spins beforehand with minimal impression, it is has come around since the October 12th release. Those familiar with their past work are already used to the unique vocals and meaningful lyrics, but others might need time to set in. This was the case for me at least, as this release really hit me hard after repeat listens. While not perfect, or even on the same level as their debut full-length, this EP easily contains enough material to hold your interest throughout. Clocking in at just over ten minutes, this is without a doubt worth your time. Listen

Stream: Freddie Gibbs - Cold Day in Hell (Mixtape)

You can hear Freddie Gibbs' newest mix tape, Cold Day In Hell, from the LRG website. It is worth noting that the download link is available via the website and also an opportunity to win an autographed item. Check it out.

Drake: Take Care Track list

While I am not the biggest Drake fan, upcoming sophomore album Take Care has been on my radar for quite some time. Due to some minor setbacks, the release date had been pushed back to November 15 with collective dismay from Drake fans world wide. The Take Care track list has now been confirmed. Take Care contains many features, my personal favorite being Outkast's Andre 3000. Rick Ross, The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Lil Wayne will also appear on this album unsurprisingly.

Stream: Yellowcard (Acoustic)

Hopeless Records has streamed Yellowcard's acoustic rendition of When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes in it's entirety via youtube. While I'm not the biggest fan of Yellowcard (or pop-punk in general), the original album had some enjoyable moments. It may be worth a listen. You can hear the complete acoustic album below:

New Black Keys

What the hell is this? Oh, it's just The Black Keys with another viral video. This time to the theme of newly released single "Lonely Boy', I really don't know what's going on here. I love it. Along with being the first single on upcoming album El Camino, it will be available to purchase as a special 12" vinyl (b/w 'Run Right Back') as part of Record Store Day's Black Friday Series. Both tracks will appear on El Camino, which is due out December 6.

M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming (Double Album)

How do I describe 'Hurry Up, We're Dreaming'? The much anticipated, three years
in-the-making double LP from M83 produces many awe inspiring moments. The general sense of grandiose is present throughout the album, seen in standout songs such as 'Midnight City' and 'Intro (Feat. Zola Jesus)'. 'Hurry Up' is anything but a perfect album though, the large run time does make this a slight chore to listen to. Despite this, the many epic moments featured easily outweigh the cons. This is electronic dream pop done right.

Another James Blake EP

It looks as though electronica maestro James Blake will end the  year with yet another EP. R&S Records posted the following through Facebook: "James Blake EP / December 2011". This year has already seen multiple great releases from James, including recently released EP 'Enough Thunder'. There has been no other information put out regarding the December release as of now. Be on the lookout for updates.

The Cranberries New Single + Album Details

Holy 90's, The Cranberries are back? The fan-favorite band  recently reunited and is set to release their sixth studio album early next year. This is the first album from The Cranberries in ten years, so my expectations aren't set to high. You can never tell, though, with band come backs. I will definitely watch out for 'Roses' come February 14th, but you can hear Show Me The Way above in the meantime.

Another previously unreleased Neutral Milk Hotel track has been put out; another take on the track 'You've Passed' which originally released in 1996 (On Avery Island). The sound is pretty psychedelic, even more so than the original. Have a listen.

This is set to appear on the much-anticipated compendium box set, which is vinyl exclusive. The box set is scheduled for a November 22nd release and will feature more unreleased work from the legendary band.

New Nas Video. Also, Bitch Suck Dick

Long-time MC Nasir Jones has released the music video for 'Nasty', the newest single from the often-acclaimed greatest lyricist of all time. There has been no given release date for Life is Good (name subject to change), but it has been confirmed to feature longtime friend AZ. Will we get another Life's A Bitch? I'm sorry, you can't expect me to write a post about Nas without referencing the classic Illmatic. Other confirmed features include OFWGKTA members Tyler, The Creator, Frank Ocean, and Hodgy Beats

On a side note, if you are interested in seeing the music video for Tyler's 'Bitch Suck Dick', you can do so via the odd future site. Be warned though, this isn't as brilliant as the breakout video for Yonkers. The video is pretty much a joke, but that's how OF works. If anything, it's worth watching for a few laughs.

After much rumor and speculation, the long-awaited collaboration between Massive Attack and Burial has finally arrived. 'Four Wall' streamed through Massive Attack's website as well as youtube. This track will be released on a limited edition 12", which can be bought here. Definitely will be a hot item for collectors and fans as The Vinyl Factory has only pressed a thousand copies.

New 'The Weeknd' Track

Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, has made the track 'Initiation' available to listen through his youtube channel. Although not confirmed, this could possibly be on his highly anticipated mixtape Echoes of Silence. Echoes of Silence is to be the final installment of the trilogy-release, which consists of House of Balloons and Thursday. If this track hints at the standard of Echoes, it could possibly outshine House of Balloons. Echoes is scheduled to release sometime this fall.

James Blake 'Enough Thunder' Stream

James Blake's new EP, entitled Enough Thunder, is now streaming. James continues this breakout year with another release, following his successful self-titled debut album. It's more of the same from Blake; beautiful, slow, soul bearing melodies that we've grown accustomed to hearing within a James Blake release. Listen.

Mutemath on 'Jimmy Kimmel"

Last night's musical guest spot for 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' was filled by alternative rock group Mutemath. Performing a rendition of their single Blood Pressure, I must say that I loved this. Mutemath has been extolled for their live performances in the past; not only for sounding identical to their recorded counterpart, but also for bringing a certain energy and excitement to the stage. In this particular performance, the band gets a bit innovative with the recording angles. Watch the clip above partially through a drummer cam and what looks like a beach ball cam.

Stream: Bjork First Listen

Bjork's seventh full-length album is streaming through NPR's first listen. Biophilia's official release date is set for October 10th. Be sure to purchase when it drops, but you can stream it here for now.

Jeff Mangum At 'Occupy Wall Street'

Watch live streaming video from globalrevolution at livestream.com

Frontman from the iconic outfit Neutral Milk Hotel (Jeff Mangum) played a surprise set for the crowd gathered at the Occupy Wall Street protest. Songs from the set include "Holland, 1945", "Ghost", "Song Against Sex", "Two-Headed Boy Part 2", "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea", and "Oh Comely". This performance footage is really a treat; not only does Jeff sound great, but the crowd singing along gives an added effect. Jeff had this to say after the performance, "You guys have done a beautiful fucking thing."

New Common Track

Long-time MC Common is displaying the second single off his upcoming album through Facebook. You can listen to it here. Loving these new songs, although this delight could just be the product of the sour taste left in my mouth after Universal Mind Control. Nevertheless, this track is definitely worth a listen.

OFWGKTA Make 12 Tracks Available

Tyler, The Creator recently made twelve old OF tracks available via iTunes, spreading the news through his twitter. Tyler tweeted this about the release of the twelve tracks:
"Old OF Shit On Itunes For You New Niggas. Digital Only, No Other Promotion, OG OF Fans Got This Shit Already. Odd Future On Itunes. Fuck You"
If you don't fall under the category of 'OG OF Fans', these tracks are definitely worth checking out. They are great entry points to the Odd Future bonanza.

Digg Of The Week

Yuck - Yuck

The newest band to be tagged with the "90's revivalist" label, Yuck's self-titled debut is a triumph. The sound found here has a certain edge to it, the "fuzz" that is present throughout the album lends even more to the 90's nostalgic feel. The rough, yet clean sound that makes Yuck is heavily influenced by that of Sonic Youth and Smashing Pumpkins, yet this album is a unique foray into the revivalist category. This band could follow in the path of similar revivalist act The Strokes, so make sure to keep an eye out.

Stream: Future Islands

On The Water is streaming in it's entirety via NPR. This is the synth pop outfit's third full-length album, which is scheduled for release October 11th. Although I've never head any of their previous material (save for a few songs here and there), I can already sense a Wild Beasts type relationship. Mostly because Samuel Herring's vocal style is unique and slightly strange, just like that of Wild Beasts' Hayden Thorp. It might take a little getting used to on my part, but the music is already enjoyable vocals withstanding. Check it out.

City and Colour Music Video

Dallas Green, former member of the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire, released a video under his solo project City and Colour. 'Weightless' is the second single off the album Little Hell, which was released back in August of this year. Great release. Check out the music video here via Rollingstone.
